The culture of plying video games for entertainment was already rooted in the society. Making a portable device available for the playing of video games was a welcome marketing idea. The consumers did want a product on this line. In the next step of evolution of this Sony PSP system it was logical that the market expected slimmer Sony PSP system with better features. Sony did not disappoint ivy’s customers. In the next step of evolution in this market for Sony PSP systems, it introduced Sony PSP slim. This system was also called as PSP Slim & Lite.

This new slim and light Sony PSP system was introduced in the market in 2007.

The original Sony PSP system’s weight was 280 grams. It was reduced by 91 grams in this new Sony PSP slim product. This means there was a reduction of 33 % in the weight in this new model for Sony PSP slim as compared to the old model. This new Sony PSP slim was also 195 slimmer a compared to the original modem of Sony PSP system. So the first aim of achieving slimmer and reduced weight model was achieved in this new Sony PSP slim model. The customers were delighted to receive a new product which is slim and reduced in the weight. Naturally this Sony PSP slim was appreciated and response from the customers was great. It was September 2007 when this Sony PSP slim was introduced to the different markets in the world.

In the original there was a metal chassis. The idea was that if the consumer drops this Sony PSP system product by mistake, there should not be trauma to the system as a whole. In this new Sony PSP slim version this metal chassis was dropped to reduce the weight of the new Sony PSP slim product. The WLAN modules were also of the improved variety in the new model. It was known that there were some loading problems in the old version of this Sony PSP system. Now in this new Sony PSP slim version, internal memory was doubled. In the original version there was internal memory of 32 MB. The new Sony PSP slim version had internal memory of 64 MB.

One option for making this Sony PSP system slimmer was to reduce the battery size. Sony decided to reduce the battery size by one third in this new Sony PSP slim version. The run time of the battery had to be kept same as that was in the original version. For this efficient usage of the battery was introduced in this Sony PSP slim version.
