When Sony PSP system was first time introduced in the world the concept behind it was to provide a portable gaming console. There was multimedia in it. But that was not very important. Sony had earlier introduced walkman as an audio product and changed the face of the audio industry. Similarly the idea behind Sony PSP was to provide portable entertainment device that will change the entertainment industry. As this product was received enthusiastically by the consumers, there had to be improved version of this Sony PSP system. So the Sony PSP 2 product was created. The first series was called as PSP 1000 series. Now this PSP 2000 was the new introduction. Many people call this product as Sony PSP 2 also.

What are the changes in this product as compared to the original version? The first point was that this new Sony PSP 2 should be slimmer and light weight as compared to the original version. The eight of this new Sony PSP 2 product is 33 5 less as compared to that of the weight of the original version. This new Sony PSP 2 also is slimmer in the looks. The name of this model is kept as PSP slim & lite.

This Sony PSP 2 model was introduced in the market in 2007. This Sony PSP 2 is 19% slimmer as compared to the Sony PSP 1 model.

In the original version there was metal chassis. The idea was to provide shock proof feature in case the PSP system falls down and has shock trauma. In this new Sony PSP 2 version this metal chassis was replaced to save on the weight. The new LCD display was thinner and lighter. The capacity of the battery was reduced by nearly one third. This also helped to reduce the weight of this new Sony PSP 2 model. However the runtime of this Sony PSP 2 was same as that of Sony PSP1 model. To achieve this efficient usage of the battery power was achieved. In this new Sony PSP 2 model improved WLAN modules are used. It also has improved micro controller. The internal memory was doubled to 64 MB in this new Sony PSP 2 model. In the older version of Sony PSP 1 model it was 32 MB.

This new Sony PSP 2 model had enamel coated finish. The idea was to give protection from the scratches. The serial port was also modified in this new Sony PSP 2 model. The speakers were also repositioned in this new Sony PSP 2 model.

The obsolete infra red port was removed. There were many other changes in this new Sony PSP 2 model. This is the reason why it clicked in the market.
