This camcorder is small enough to fit comfortably in the palm of your hand with still packing enough punch to be thought of as more than just your typical camcorder. It also has a built in 2.1 megapixel digital camera for all of your still picture taking needs. It also comes equipped with networking as well as Bluetooth capabilities.
Now you may be asking, “What is in the box?” Along with the camcorder is an 8mb memory stick and usb cable to make transfer from camcorder to computer virtually effortless. There is a hidden flash that appears when the digital camera button is depressed half way helping to provide a clear picture when taken in low light. One drawback to the 2.1 megapixel camera is the photos cannot be greatly enlarged while still maintaining the integrity of the picture. However, the photos are great for internet use and email and can be converted up to a 4×6 print with fair to good results.
The DCR-TRV80 performs well as a camcorder in the right lighting conditions. It offers a clear picture with true color. The view screen is also another plus added to this camcorder. Providing a 3.5 inch screen allows for easy view of what is being recorded. The view screen doubles as a touch screen menu.
If using the camcorder near a Bluetooth capable device, you will be able to surf the net using the touch screen for navigation. You can attach pictures directly from the camcorder to emails and send them on their way. Although the touch screen may be difficult to use while composing emails, it is pleasant to look at. Unfortunately, using the networking capability of the camcorder will require additional accessories not included with the initial purchase.
Although the Sony DCR-TRV80 is small, it will rival or surpass most camcorders on the market. This camera offers features that will suit the beginner plus plenty of advanced features to appeal to a well accustomed camcorder user.
