Today, number of brands and models are available in the market that you may get confused when you go in the market for buying a DVD player. There are actually two types of people, one who are searching for brand new players and one who want their old models to be replaced by new ones. You have to take into account number of things before purchasing DVD players. Here, we will discuss those things in detail.

Some people may be thinking about buying a portable DVD player. Of course, they must be concerned about the size because of lack of space in home or may be they want DVD during fights in their frequent flight schedule. The portable player is a smaller and lighter with larger screen size.

Most new players offer 7″ screens and some brands such as Kenwood has 8″ screen. You have to ensure that the sound through headphones is loud enough in the case you are using the player in the flights as aero plane’s noise may cancel the sound. The new players are very expensive and costs about $1000. Some brand models are AIWA, Panasonic LV-75, SONY and Sharp. If you are going to use the player in the home, then older models such as Pioneer PDV-LC10 are good for you. It costs about $500-700. The drawback is its large battery pack. Because of that, it weighs about 3 ton.

The important suggestion is that don’t buy any model before testing it at least 2-3 times. The portable players are costly enough. You have to also see that the player has all connections as a regular home player.

You also have to understand that the sound comes from your speakers and picture quality depends on your TV. So, if your TV is very old and your speakers are also normal, you should not expect excellent picture and sound quality from your DVD. One more thing is that the sound quality also depends on the receiver. Hence, either you have to replace your TV, speakers and receiver for effective functioning of your DVD.

You can have DVD systems such as DVD-player, amplifier and radio in one box including 5 satellites and a subwoofer. But, these systems can never surpass separate systems. Though separate systems take enough space, the most important advantage of using them is their upgradeability. Ultimately, one has to understand his/her requirements and choose the best alternative!
