There are so many online war games available that it becomes a game in itself just choosing which one to play!

There are however of course just a handful of games that are considered to be the cream of the crop. Whilst some smaller games have cult followings, it’s the larger games which attract the majority of online war game players. Some of these games attract many thousands of people online at one time, placing intensive loads on game servers.

WWII Online: Battleground Europe is a MMORPG. It is a first person shooter and war simulator set in Europe during World War 2.

It is a popular game however there are a few notable criticisms noted by players. These include the steep learning curve, slow paced play and realistic vulnerability as well as some graphics issues.

The developers are however constantly improving the game and no doubt these issues are being ironed out.

Vanguard: Saga of Heroes

Vanguard: Saga of Heroes is also a MMPRPG set in a fantasy land. Sony Online Entertainment are the developers of Vanguard so there is a large budget behind it.

There are currently just under 100,000 players subscribed to this online fantasy war game so the servers are rarely overcrowded.

Some players believe that the released game still has a few things missing including some missing customization options, bugs and lack of content for high level players. This has lead people to believe that the game was not ready when it was released. It can also be somewhat difficult finding people to play with online due to under populated servers.

Apart from the bugs which are being ironed out, Vanguard is a fine example of an online war game with a fantasy twist.

Americas Army

Americas Army is the famous online war game that was developed for the US Army as a recruitment tool. It is a team based tactical first person shooter and is quite realistic. This realism has also become the target of criticism in the US.

Players in America’s Army are depicted as US soldiers and have access to real weapons that the army uses.

Some groups have criticized the game as being too violent and as actually turning people away from the army rather than coercing them into recruiting.

AA is a really fun game to play online. There is never a shortage of players and the array of weaponry is awesome. As long as you don’t mind playing as the Americans each time, then you’ll love this one.
