Then after a civilian plane was shot because they had breached the airspace of a hostile country, the use of GPS navigators was made public. The purpose was to specify borders and airspace to civilian aircraft and to make journey safer and faster.
There are many companies who are into manufacturing and marketing GPS satellite navigators. The major companies are Nokia, Motorola and Timex. They manufacture GPS navigators for civilian uses. For military uses specially designed GPS navigators are used.
GPS navigators find application in many fields like motor sports and mountaineering because you have to be precise about your location to complete your journey properly.
